World Press Photo 2009

06/06/2009

A few days ago I bought (actually my dad bought it for me :)) the  book: World Press Photo, 2009 (a photography contest, it’s one of the most important photojournalism events of the year).

By Anthony Suau.
Maybe you already knew it, but this picture was the winner.

Jury chair MaryAnne Golon said: “The strength of the picture is in its opposites. It’s a double entendre. It looks like a classic conflict photograph, but it is simply the eviction of people from a house following foreclosure. Now war in its classic sense is coming into people’s houses because they can’t pay their mortgages.

– ‘The economic crisis is becoming common for many of us’ !

There are many other pictures in the book. A lot of  ‘hard’ pictures, but also categories as nature, art, sport.. All these photos have a story and because of that I really love it.

You can find more pics HERE (but don’t forget to read the explanation! :D)

Geweldige foto. Ik moet zeker ook de rest van de foto’s eens bekijken! (Maar nu niet, morgen examen… )
